MBB: Hofstra Looks To Continue Winning Ways Against Stony Brook

Hempstead, NY – Winners of three straight games, the Hofstra Men's Basketball team will continue its three-game road trip on Tuesday when it heads east to face Long Island rival Stony Brook.

Tip-off from Island Federal Credit Union Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.

There will be live video via ESPN3, along with Pride Productions live audio and live statistics. Links to all three can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra (6-3) extended its win streak to three games with an exciting 88-82 victory over Rider on Saturday evening. The Pride was led by a trio of strong offensive performances in the contest as junior Justin Wright-Foreman had 30 points, sophomore Eli Pemberton added 28 and freshman Jalen Ray chipped in with 17. Not to be overlooked, graduate Joel Angus III had another strong game for Hofstra with eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

Wright-Foreman pushed his season scoring average to 22 points per game, while Pemberton is now averaging 18.9 points per outing. Senior Rokas Gustys, who tied Angus III for game-high honors with 10 rebounds against the Broncs, is averaging a team-best 10.9 caroms per game.

Stony Brook brings a 4-6 record into Tuesday's encounter and the Seawolves have won three of their last four games, including a 76-66 road win at Columbia on Thursday. Akwasi Yeboah leads SBU with 13.6 points per game, while Junior Saintel is averaging a team-high 4.7 rebounds per game.

Hofstra is 20-5 all-time against their Long Island neighbors and won last season's meeting 96-58 in Hempstead as the Pride placed six players in double figures including 22 points and eight rebounds from Wright-Foreman and 18 rebounds and 11 points from Gustys. The teams first met during the 1972-73 season with Hofstra winning that meeting by the score of 103-80.
