Hempstead, N.Y. – The fourth-seeded Hofstra Men's Soccer team fell to fifth-seeded William & Mary, 4-1, on Saturday night at Hofstra Soccer Stadium in a Colonial Athletic Association quarterfinal.
The Pride ends its season 6-6-6 with a 3-1-3 record on home turf. The Tribe improved to 9-4-5 and advances to play top-seeded James Madison in the CAA semifinals next weekend.
CAA leading scorer Antonio Bustamante scored all four of William & Mary's goals, opening the scoring in the sixth minute. The Pride knotted the score at one in the 27th minute, with sophomore
Oscar Ramsay netting his team leading fourth goal of the season on a back-heel off a
Jon Fraser corner kick.
Bustmante made it 2-1 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the first half before scoring his third early in the second. Tribe goalkeeper Phil Breno made a diving save on a
Sean Nealis header midway through the second half to prevent Hofstra from closing the gap, and Bustamante sealed the win with his fourth goal just moments later.
Hofstra's even finish marks the fourth consecutive season the Pride has finished at .500 or better.
