MBB: Hofstra To Face Auburn In Third Place Game Of Charleston Classic

Charleston, SC – The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will face another stern test on Sunday when it faces Auburn in the third place game of the Gildan Charleston Classic.

The game will tip at 7 p.m. and air nationally on ESPNU. There will also be online video and Pride Productions audio available for the game, in addition to live statistics. Links to all can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra (3-1) will have faced a trio of quality opponents at the Charleston Classic as the meeting against Auburn will conclude a trip that has seen the Pride face Dayton of the Atlantic 10, Clemson of the Atlantic Coast and Auburn of the Southeastern Conference.

The Pride has gone 1-1 at the tournament so far, defeating Dayton on opening night before falling to Clemson on Friday. Hofstra's win over Dayton on November 16 was the program's 36th all-time victory over the current membership of the Atlantic 10 Conference. It was the Pride's first since defeating St. Bonaventure (11/28/15) and La Salle (12/2/15) in back-to-back games during the 2015-16 season.

The Pride has never faced Auburn in the sport of men's basketball. Hofstra is 2-11 all-time against the current membership of the Southeastern Conference. The Pride defeated Florida during the 1977-78 season and earned a win over Mississippi during the 1990-91 campaign. Side note - this will be the second matchup between Hofstra and Auburn in just over a week as the two schools met in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in women's soccer on November 10. The Tigers won a close game, 1-0, down in Auburn, Alabama.

Following this game, Hofstra will head back north and travel to face Siena on Saturday, November 25 at 2 p.m.
