Paola Figueroa had five kills and seven digs, while fellow senior
Doris Bogoje chipped in with three kills to lead the Hofstra Volleyball team to a three-set sweep of Delaware on Sunday afternoon at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center. Sophomore
Laura Masciullo posted match-highs of 14 kills, five service aces (career-high) and four blocks for the Pride.
Set scores were 25-19, 25-16 and 25-15 in favor of Hofstra, which improved to 15-11 and 7-5 in Colonial Athletic Association play. Delaware fell to 5-17 and 3-9 in the league with the loss.
Hofstra hit at a .286 clip for the match while the Pride's defense held up well all afternoon and held the Blue Hens to a .069 attack percentage. The Pride fell behind early in the first set, trailing 7-3, before a 13-4 run changed the course of the contest and sent Hofstra on its way to its 15th win of the season. Junior
Michela Rucli chipped in with six kills for Hofstra, while sophomore
Luisa Sydlik had 27 assists. Courtnie Roberts had 15 assists, five digs and four kills for Delaware.
Hofstra heads back on the road next weekend when it travels to Elon on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. match.
NOTES
- Hofstra improved to 50-19 all-time against Delaware. The Pride has won seven of the last eight meetings between the teams.
- The digs total for Figueroa marked a career-high, while the kills total was a new season-high.
- Hofstra has now won at least 15 matches in six consecutive seasons.
