Coco Haener advanced through qualifying to reach the main draw at the ITA Northeast Regional Championship

MTEN: Haener Qualifies For Main Draw At ITA Northeast Regional

New Haven, CT - Hofstra University junior Coco Haener advanced to the main draw of the 2017 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional today after winning a pair of qualifying matches. Haener will join teammate Marcus Smith, who was selected to play, in the main draw.

Haener posted a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 victory over Marist's Lars Shouten in his first round match. He then followed that up with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) win over Bernard Tefel of Colonial Athletic Association rival Drexel to claim one of the 12 qualifying spots.

Classmate Jan Leithner did not fare as well in qualifying action as he lost his first round match to Dartmouth's Roko Glasnovic, 6-3 and 6-2.

Main draw singles play gets underway Thursday. Doubles play also commences Thursday with Haener pulling double duty as he and Niko Vulinovich are competing in doubles play as well.
