Box Score Hempstead, NY - Coco Haener's fourth flight win gave Hofstra a 4-3 victory over visiting Fairfield Saturday at the Hofstra Outdoor Tennis Center. Haener rallied from a set down to post a 6-7 (7-9), 6-4, 6-2 victory over the Stags' Anthony Caputo.

Hofstra evened its record at 1-1 on the season, while Fairfield dropped to 1-1 as well.

Hofstra swept the doubles point with Nick Silvestri and David Schrott picking up a 6-1 win at No. 2 over Jeff Rodgers and William Townsend Font. Niko Vulinovich and Haener followed with a 6-2 win over Lewis Edwards and Tyler Shibles at No. 1 before Marcus Smith and Jan Leithner completed the sweep with a 6-2 win at No. 3 over Dylan Appel and Anthony Caputo.

Leithner would post a 6-1, 6-2 win over Edwards at No. 2 singles, while Vulinovich battled Rodgers for a win at No. 3 (6-4, 2-6, 6-3). But with the Stags taking wins at the first, fifth and sixth flights, the match hung in the balance with the No. 4 flight tilt between Haener and Caputo. Haener dropped the first set in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (9-7), but came back to win the second set, 6-4. The Pride junior dominated the third set, picking up a 6-2 victory.

Hofstra is back in action Wednesday at the ITA Northeast Regional in New Haven, Connecticut. Smith (main draw singles), Leithner (qualifying singles) and Haener and Vulinovich (main draw doubles) will represent the Pride.
