WSOC: Hofstra Edged By Delaware, 2-1

Newark, Del. – After Delaware had taken a 2-0 lead, senior Jill Mulholland scored for Hofstra Women's Soccer, but the Pride couldn't complete the comeback as the Blue Hens took a 2-1 win at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium.

The loss drops Hofstra to 6-4-1 overall and 0-2 in Colonial Athletic Association play after falling to Drexel on Friday night. Delaware improved to 3-8 and 2-0 in the CAA.

The Blue Hens took an early 1-0 lead, with Madison Brosler scoring off a corner kick, and then doubled it in the 35th minute on a goal from Natalie Zelenky.

Mulholland would get the Pride on the board before the half expired, putting away a pass from sophomore Jamie Delaney in the 42nd minute. Mulholland leads the team with eight goals and 21 points. The goal moved her into seventh in program history in career goals (25) and career points (65).

Mulholland led the team with three shots, with Delaware holding a 15-9 edge in shots and a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper made six saves in the second half as the Blue Hens pressed for an insurance goal. Redshirt-sophomore Ashley Wilson stopped three shots in the first half.

Hofstra concludes its five-game road trip next weekend, heading south to College of Charleston for a 7 p.m. matchup on Friday and to UNCW on Sunday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
