Philadelphia, Pa. – Hofstra Women's Soccer was held off the scoreboard for the first time this season Friday night, with Drexel taking a 3-0 win at Vidas Field to open Colonial Athletic Association play.
With the loss, the Pride fell to 6-3-1 and 0-1 in conference.
Drexel (5-4-1, 1-0) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, with Wilhelmina Hauch-Fausbøll heading in a corner in the ninth minute before Vanessa Kara doubled the advantage with an individual effort in the 18-yard box in the 19th minute.
Senior
Emily Agudelo took a free kick from favorable position in the 31st minute, but the Dragons' wall of defenders blocked the attempt.
Junior
Noriana Radwan got a look on goal early in the second half, but her blast sailed just high.
Drexel then made it 3-0 in the 68th minute on Shaelyn McCarty's strike.
Shots were nearly even, with the Dragons holding a narrow 18-17 advantage, but Drexel put 12 on frame to Hofstra's six shots on goal. The Pride's goalkeepers combined for nine saves, with redshirt-sophomore
Ashley Wilson making four in the first half and senior
Friederike Mehring making five in the second.
Hofstra continues its road trip with a game at conference foe Delaware at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
