ATH: Rachelle Fabre Joins Hofstra Athletics Staff

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Vice President and Director of Athletics Jeffrey A. Hathaway today announced the appointment of Rachelle Fabre to the position of Director of Student-Athlete Services and Life Skills Development.  A former member of the Pride Cross Country Team, Fabre moves over to the Hofstra Department of Athletics after spending the past year as an admissions counselor in Hofstra's Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

"I am very happy to welcome Rachelle back to the Hofstra Pride Athletics family," said Hathaway. "Her experience as a student-athlete and as an admissions counselor will serve her well in her new position. Rachelle has an excellent grasp on Hofstra's academic offerings and the University community. She will be an asset in working with our student-athletes, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, professional development program, community service initiatives and preparing our students for life after graduation."

Fabre was a member of the cross country team from 2010 through 2012. She also established the Hofstra University Track Club and was responsible for preparing the club's annual budget and schedule, as well as marketing the club on campus to recruit new members.

Following graduation in 2012, Fabre garnered experience in sports organizations such as Madison Square Garden and Van Wagner Sports and Entertainment. In addition, she worked in human resources at Estee Lauder before coming back to Hofstra in 2015.

She began her career in admissions as a graduate assistant before transitioning to a full-time position. In her role, Fabre built relationships with prospective students and their parents through recruitment events and in-person interviews. She also reviewed applications of first-year applicants and provided admission decisions. Fabre was also the coordinator of Hofstra's UpClose program for first year and transfer students to shadow current students to gain an understanding of the Hofstra student experience.

Fabre, a native of West Babylon, New York, holds a degree in finance from Hofstra and is scheduled to earn her master's degree in higher education leadership and policy studies from the University in May 2017.
