Carys Swan combined for a one save shutout as Hofstra defeated the Raiders of Colgate, 7-0 in a non-conference game at Tyler's Field Sunday.
Hofstra dominated play in the contest to post their first victory of the year and even their record at 1-1 on the young season. Colgate is also 1-1.
The Pride jumped on the Raiders early, scoring in the first 37 seconds. Hofstra sophomore
Madison Sauve scored her first of the year, picking up an errant Colgate pass and beating junior goalie Maria Krull to give the Pride a 1-0 lead. Senior
Carissa Witmer made it 2-0 for the Pride at the 23:40 mark off a penalty corner. Senior

Marloes Schavemaker who stopped it for a bullet by Witmer for the 2-0 advantage. Just 2:02 later, senior
Emily Gallagher scored her first goal of the year off a pass from Marin Samper for a 3-0 lead at the half.
Hofstra dominated play, outshooting the Raiders, 15-1 and taking five penalty corners to none by Colgate in the first 35 minutes.
The Pride added four more goals in the first 17 minutes of the second half. Schoen notched her first goal of the year following a penalty corner with freshman
Lara Bittel sending a short pass to Schoen who beat Krull at the 38:17 mark. Bittel would figure in the next goal as well, less than five minutes later, taking a shot that was deflected by Marin Samper for her first goal of the season and a 5-0 advantage.
Schoen would get her second of the game at the 45:29 mark, picking up a rebound in front and slipping it past Krull to boost the lead to 6-0. Sauve would add her second goal of the contest in the 52
nd minute, taking a pass from Schoen and hitting a backhander that beat Krull for the seventh tally of the game.
Hofstra outshot Colgate in the contest, 23-4 and had eight penalty corners to the Raider's one. Pride senior goalie

st minute before being replaced by junior
Carys Swan, who played the final 18:02.
Hofstra will return to action on Friday, September 2 when the Pride begins its home schedule against the Black Bears of the University of Maine. Game time at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium is 3 p.m.
