MBB: Mihalich Unveils Non-Conference Schedule For Upcoming Campaign

Hempstead, NY – Hofstra University Head Men's Basketball Coach Joe Mihalich revealed today his squad's 2016-17 non-conference schedule.

It was unveiled during a Facebook Live broadcast that also aired on WRHU (88.7 FM).

The schedule features seven teams that advanced to postseason play last season, five home games at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex, along with several other exciting games.

Hofstra, which captured the 2015-16 Colonial Athletic Association regular season title on its way to winning 24 games and earning a spot in the National Invitation Tournament, begins the season with a home game against Coppin State on November 11. That game will be part of a season-opening Hofstra Basketball doubleheader as the women's basketball team will take on Marist that day.

Hofstra will then spend nearly the entire rest of the month away from the Mack Sports Complex as they start with games at Sacred Heart on November 13 and at Manhattan on November 18. The game against the Jaspers is one of three exciting local opponents on this year's slate as the Pride will also face Columbia on November 29 on the road and host Stony Brook on December 13.

Following the Manhattan contest, Hofstra will play its next four games as part of the Gulf Coast Showcase. The first three games (November 21-23) will take place at the Germain Arena in Estero, Florida and the fourth game will be at the Mack Sports Complex. The Pride will first face Bradley before taking on either Vermont or Wofford. Hofstra's third and final game down in Florida will be versus Kent State, South Dakota, Houston or George Mason. Hofstra will conclude its appearance in the Gulf Coast Showcase with a home game against Medaille on November 25.

The aforementioned Columbia game concludes the month of November for Hofstra before the Pride opens up December with a return trip to the Sunshine State to face Florida Atlantic on December 3.

The remainder of the non-conference schedule will see Hofstra not leave the state of New York with three of the four games occurring at home.

St. Bonaventure visits the Mack Sports Complex on December 6 before Hofstra takes on Kentucky on December 11 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. As previously announced that game will air nationally on ESPN.

The last two games will be home games against Stony Brook and Siena on December 13 and 22, respectively.

The Colonial Athletic Association portion of Hofstra's schedule was released last week.
