WTEN: Hofstra Picks Up Road Win At Coppin State

Baltimore, MD – The Hofstra Women's Tennis team picked up five singles wins and claimed the doubles point as the Pride defeated Coppin State, 6-1, Friday evening at the CSU Tennis Courts.

Hofstra improved to 9-5 on the season with the win. Coppin State fell to 2-10.

The Pride won both contested doubles matches to earn the point. Sarah Bowen and Carmen Pestano defeated Ashley Milo and Carentxa Goede, 6-2, at first doubles. Michal Kaplan and Sarah Catherine Herndon then came through with a 6-1 win at the second flight over Miranda Taylor and Precious Udofe.

In singles play, Bowen defeated Taylor at the first flight by scores of 6-1, 6-0. Kaplan won at the second flight over Goede, 6-3, 6-1. Herndon picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Milo at the third flight, while Disha Yellayi downed Udofe, 6-0, 6-1 at fourth singles. Giulia Leone won her sixth singles match by forfeit.

The Eagles earned their only point of the match at the fifth flight where Tanna Nita defeated the Pride's Salini Jariwala by scores of 6-2 and 6-3.

Hofstra is back in action Saturday at Howard. Match time is 12 p.m.
