MTEN: Hofstra Notches Road Win At Coppin State

Baltimore, MD - The Hofstra Men's Tennis team picked up five singles wins and won all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point in a 6-1 victory over Coppin State Friday evening at the CSU Tennis Courts.

Hofstra improved to 9-4 on the season with the win. Coppin State fell to 1-10.

The Pride won all three doubles matches to earn the point. Gustav Akesson and Niko Vulinovich defeated Gabriel Franca and Christian Duchnak at the first flight, 6-2. Yahn Gawrit and Marcus Smith downed Gavin Lewis and Andres Diaz, 6-1, while Leonardo Pires and Zachary Chang picked up a 6-0 win over Zaipo Oula and Ross Olexa at the third flight.

The Pride won the first five singles flights with Akesson posting a 6-0, 6-0 win over Oula at fourth singles. Vulinovich won 6-0, 6-1 over Duchnak at the second flight, while Smith picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Franca at the first flight. Gawrit had a 7-5, 6-0 win over Lewis at third singles, while Pires notched a 6-2, 6-2 win over Olexa at number five.

Diaz gave the Eagles their lone point with a 7-5, 3-6, 10-3 win over Chang at the sixth flight.

Hofstra is back in action Saturday evening when they take on Morgan State at 5 p.m.
