WTEN: Hofstra's Season Ends In CAA Quarterfinal Loss To No. 37 William & Mary

Winston-Salem, NC – Top-seeded William & Mary, which is ranked 37th nationally, won all four completed singles matches and posted a 4-0 victory over eighth-seeded Hofstra Friday in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship Quarterfinals. The match was played at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Complex due to weather conditions.
 
Hofstra concludes its season at 14-7, while William & Mary advances to the semifinals with a 16-6 record.
 
The Tribe opened a 1-0 lead following a victory by 108th-ranked Elizaveta Nemchinov over Sarah Bowen at the No. 1 singles flight, 6-1, 6-1. Lauren Goodman got past Sarah Herndon at the third flight, 6-1, 6-1, as well. Marie Faure picked up a 6-2, 7-5 win over Michal Kaplan at second singles. Julia Casselbury clinched the win for William & Mary with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 4 over Carmen Pestano.
 
The match marked the final one in the career of senior Sarah Bowen, who won 45 matches during her tenure at Hofstra.
