MTEN: Hofstra Sweeps La Salle

Philadelphia, PA - Hofstra swept all six singles matches to post a 6-0 victory over host La Salle Saturday at the Belfield Courts. By mutual agreement, doubles matches were not contested since Hofstra had already clinched the match victory.

The Pride improved to 8-3 on the season while La Salle fell to 0-14.

Marcus Smith opened the match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Brian Balico at the No. 1 flight. Niko Vulinovich followed at No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Meredith Christian. Guilherme Ferneda posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles over Brian Guidici and Zachary Chang followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Liam Rodriguez at the fifth flight to clinch the win. Gustav Akesson downed Joseph Di Orio at third singles, 6-1, 6-2; and Leonardo Pires closed out the match with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Mark Robinson.

Hofstra returns to action Sunday in a Colonial Athletic Association match at Drexel. Match time is set for 3 p.m.
