Hempstead, NY - Denton Koon scored 19 points to lead a balanced scoring attack as Hofstra held off a second half rally and defeated Northeastern, 65-60, Sunday afternoon at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. The win was Hofstra's 20th of the season.

Hofstra led 33-22 at halftime, using a big run to seemingly take control of the contest. The Pride outscored Northeastern, 15-2 over a span of 9:53 to turn an 11-5 deficit into a 20-13 lead with 6:08 left in the half. Green scored six points in the run, while Gustys added four. Northeastern got within four, 20-16 on a three from David Walker with 5:41 to play. But the Pride closed the half on a 13-6 run to take the 11 point lead into intermission.

The Huskies would erase a 13-point deficit in the second half and get to within two, 51-49, with 5:15 to play. Jeremy Miller capped an 8-2 run for the Huskies with a three-pointer that made it a two-point contest. But Koon had a layup and Tanksley added two free throws to push the lead back up to six, 55-49 with 4:05 to go. Northeastern made it a three-point game, 57-54, with 1:38 to go, but Koon drained a corner three and Gustys hit two free throws to push the Hofstra lead to eight with 59 seconds to play.

Northeastern had one last push as Caleb Donnelly and Walker hit back-to-back three-pointers to cut the Pride lead to two, 62-60, with 33 seconds on the clock. That would be Northeastern's last basket and the Pride hit three of four free throws in the final seconds to seal the victory.

Quincy Ford and Walker lead Northeastern with 15 points, while Ford also added a team-high 14 rebounds. Donnelly had 12 points on four three-point field goals.
