MSOC: William & Mary Eliminates Hofstra In CAA Semifinal

Hempstead, N.Y. – Despite an attempt at a second-half rally, Hofstra Men's Soccer fell to William & Mary, 3-1, in the CAA Semifinal on Friday night at Hofstra Soccer Stadium, eliminating the Pride from the CAA Tournament.

The Tribe's Reilly Maw scored twice and recorded an assist as William & Mary advanced to Sunday's championship match.

The Tribe (12-6-2) got on the board early, finding the back of the net in the 13th minute, with Antonio Bustamante splitting defenders and tucking his shot away into the lower left corner of the net.

Senior Andreas Iosifides had arguably the Pride's best chance of the first half after a collision in the 18-yard box left the ball loose, but his shot went high.
Maw, who had set up Bustamante's opening goal, scored his first of the night in the 63rd minute on a shot from the left side of the box.

CAA Rookie of the Year Luke Brown gave Hofstra some life less than four minutes later, putting in a close range shot on a through-ball from Andreas Iosifides. Brown's strike was his team-leading eighth of the season. The Pride took the momentum in stride, generating a number of chances, posting 10 shots in the second half. Junior Meshack Eshun Addy had a quality opportunity to equalize, one-touching a cross but sending it just high.

The Tribe then sealed the game with Maw's second of the game, getting in past the defense in the 86th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alex Ashton made a number of impressive one-on-one saves, tying his season high with five stops on the night to keep the Pride within striking distance.
With the loss, Hofstra dropped to 9-8-1 and 5-2 at home.
