Sarah Bowen (A Singles) and
Sarah Catherine Herndon (B Singles) each advanced to their respective flight's championship match, but neither could come out on top as the Hofstra Invitational concluded Saturday afternoon.
Bowen posted a 7-6, 6-4 win in the semifinals over Colgate's Jennifer Ho, but then fell in the finals to Lauren Hyland of Colgate by scores of 6-1 and 6-2.
Herndon advanced to the finals with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Claudia Hellman of Saint Peter's before falling to Avika Sagwal of Wagner, 6-2, 6-1, in the championship match.
In another A Singles semifinal match, the Pride's
Carmen Pestano fell to Hyland by scores of 6-3, 6-3.
Hyland and Ho won the doubles competition as well, posting an 8-2 win over teammates Katie Grant and Steph Fuentes in the finals.
Rina Baynes of Wagner was the A Singles consolation bracket winner as she posted an 8-3 win over Elena Puigventos of Saint Peter's.
Hofstra's
Ria Shah advanced to the finals of the B Singles consolation bracket with an 8-1 win over Aidah Muhammed of Saint Peter's. But Christian Resurrecion of Saint Peter's earned the championship with an 8-6 win.
Hofstra will return to action on October 4 in a home scrimmage against NYIT.
