Hannah Klemm had 55 assists and eight digs to lead the Hofstra Volleyball team to a four-set win over Princeton on Friday evening at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center.
Sophomore middle blocker
Leticia Valente had a spectacular match for Hofstra as she posted 21 kills in the match and a .633 attack percentage. The kills total marked a new career-high for the Brazil native.
The match was the second of the day in the annual Hofstra/Asics Invitational as Florida Gulf Coast defeated Hartford in three sets earlier in the day.
The win improved the Pride's record to 6-4 this season and Hofstra has now won two straight matches. Princeton falls to 1-3 with the defeat.
Set scores were 26-24, 25-21, 18-25 and 25-23 in favor of the Pride.
Looking to end the match in three sets, Hofstra held a 13-11 lead midway through the stanza before Princeton scored seven straight points to earn an 18-13 advantage as they sent the match to a fourth set.
In the fourth set, Hofstra had its strongest offensive showing of the match as they put an end to any thoughts of a Princeton comeback with a .346 attack percentage in the fourth stanza to end the contest.
Junior outside hitter
Veronika Kostova added 18 kills for Hofstra, while freshman middle blocker
Michela Rucli notched eight kills and a match-high seven blocks.
Nnenna Ibe led Princeton with 15 kills and a .737 attack percentage. Lauren Miller tallied 23 assists and 13 digs for the Tigers.
Hofstra will play its second match of the Hofstra/Asics Invitational on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. against Florida Gulf Coast. The Pride will close tournament play at 7:30 p.m. versus Hartford.
NOTES- Hofstra is 8-3 all-time against Princeton.
- The Pride is now 4-1 in four-set matches this season.
- Valente's previous career-high of 17 kills came in the season opener against Duquesne.

Brianna Montgomery had a career-high five service aces in the match. Her previous-high of four came against St. Francis Brooklyn on September 5, 2014.
