Brittain Altomare had a goal and an assist to give her 240 career points, tying the school's all-time record, but #6 Stony Brook pulled away in the second half for a 12-8 victory over Hofstra on Tuesday evening at James M. Shuart Stadium.

Altomare tied the mark of 240 points set by Kathleen Mikowski (2000-03) and she will look to become the program's all-time leader in points in the regular season finale on Saturday. In addition, Altomare's 74 points this season are a new single season school record. She broke the previous record of 73 held by Kathleen McPike (2001) and Kimberly Hillier (2006).
Junior defender
Lindsey Alfano posted a team-high three points on two goals and an assist for the Pride, which fell to 10-5 with the loss. The loss ended a five-game win streak for Hofstra.
Stony Brook won its fourth straight game in improving to 15-1 this season. Courtney Murphy led the Seawolves with four goals, while Dorrien Van Dyke had five points on three goals and two assists. Kylie Ohlmiller added two goals and two assists.
Hofstra and Stony Brook played a competitive first half with neither squad able to pull away. The Seawolves, buoyed by three first half goals from Murphy, would earn a narrow 5-4 lead at the break.
Hofstra had a balanced attack in the opening stanza as four different scorers found the back of the net with sophomore attacker
Tiana Parrella scoring first for the Pride at the 25:57 mark to give Hofstra an early 1-0 advantage.
The Pride continued to have to rally in the opening 30 minutes as three different Hofstra goals tied the score with sophomore attacker
Morgan Knox scoring with 4:15 left before intermission to even the score at four. Van Dyke would allow Stony Brook to lead at the half as she scored with 2:43 remaining.
Stony Brook would take control of the contest as they scored the first three goals of the second stanza to open up an 8-4 advantage at the 22:22 mark. The run in total was four straight spanning the two halves to turn a four-all tie into a four-goal lead for the Seawolves.
Hofstra would score two of the next three goals in the contest, both off the stick of Alfano, to close the gap to 9-6 with 16:18 left on the clock.
The visiting Seawolves would push the lead to as many as five, 11-6, with just under 10 minutes left in regulation before the Pride got back-to-back goals from freshman midfielder
Shea McAvoy and Knox to bring them within three, 11-8, with 3:35 remaining. Hofstra was unable to close the gap any further as Stony Brook closed the scoring with an unassisted goal from Kristin Yevoli at the 1:52 mark.
Alfano added two caused turnovers, a ground ball and a draw control, while junior defender
Shelby Milne had a pair of ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
Van Dyke had two caused turnovers and two ground balls as well for the Seawolves.
Hofstra closes the regular season on Saturday at 1 p.m. when it hosts Drexel. The game will serve as "Senior Day" as the program will honor its six seniors prior to the contest.
