MTEN: Temple Slips Past Hofstra

Oceanside, NY - Hofstra and Temple split the six singles matches, but the Owls took the doubles point and posted a 4-3 win over the Pride Sunday night at Point Set Indoor Tennis.

The loss dropped the Pride to 3-3 on the season, while Temple improved to 8-6 on the year.

Niko Vulinovich and Beau Wills won at first doubles, 6-4, over Hicham Belkssir and Nicolas Paulus. But the Owls picked up wins at the second and third flight to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

Wills tied the match with a 6-4, 6-0, victory over Santiago Canete at first singles. However, Temple won each of the next three completed flights with Belkssir's 6-2, 7-6 (5) win at third singles clinching the match for the Owls. Ricky Hendler and Ari Richman won their respective singles flights in three sets to account for Hofstra's final two points.

The Pride returns to action next weekend when the team travels to Baltimore, Maryland, for matches against Coppin State (Saturday) and Loyola (Sunday).
