Williamsburg, VA - Third-seeded William & Mary won all five completed matches in posting a 4-0 win over sixth-seeded Hofstra in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship Friday morning.
William & Mary improves to 17-8 on the season and advances to face second-seeded Charleston in the semifinals on Saturday. Hofstra sees its season end at 6-7.
The Tribe took the doubles point as Ben Hoogland and John Banks posted an 8-1 win over Matthew Gemmell and Leo Pires at third doubles and Will Juggins and Aaron Chaffee defeated Ari Richman and Adrien Bailly, 8-3 at first doubles.
In singles play Juggins picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Bailly at the second flight to put William & Mary up, 2-0. Hoogland followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Richman at first singles and Chaffee ended the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Pires at sixth singles. Three singles matches were left unfinished once the overall match outcome was decided.
