West Hempstead, NY - Matthew Gemmell secured Hofstra's only point in a three-set win at fourth singles as Stony Brook picked up a 6-1 victory Tuesday at Hempstead Lake Indoor Tennis.
The loss evens Hofstra's record at 6-6 and marked the final regular season match for the Pride, who will next play in the CAA Championship this Friday at William & Mary.
Gemmell posted a 6-4, 2-6, 10-7 win over Marcello Locatelli at fourth singles. The win was Gemmell's seventh of the season.
Ari Richman battled Alex Felisa at first singles, winning thefirst set 6-4 before dropping the next two sets, 2-6 and 7-10. The other four singles matches were all won by Stony Brook in straight sets.
The doubles team of Richman and Adrien Bailly posted an 8-4 win over Tyler Hofmann and Locatelli at first doubles, but the Seawolves won the other two flights to claim the doubles point.
