West Long Branch, NJ - Monmouth took two of three doubles matches and the three completed singles matches to halt Hofstra's win streak at three in a 4-0 victory Saturday afternoon.
Monmouth, which was a perfect 12-0 at home this season, improved to 14-6 on the year. Hofstra fell to 6-5 on the season.
Przemyslaw Filipek and Bee Kumthonkittikul won at third doubles over Leo Pires and Matthew Gemmell, 8-4. Adrien Bailly and Ari Richman picked up an 8-4 win at first doubles over Victor Pugliese and Christian Vieira to even the match. But the Hawaks would clinch the point with a win at second double by Freddy Marcinkowski and Ramy Behhiet over Joseph Erichsen and Beau Wills.
Vieira defeated Erichsen at fifth singles. Erichsen was down one set to none and trailed in the second set when he retired. Bekhiet followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Pires at sixth singles. Luke Adamus clinched the match for Monmouth with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Gemmell at fourth singles. The othe singles matches that were going on at the time were then halted due to time constraints.
Hofstra is back in action Tuesday when it hosts Stony Brook at 10 a.m.
