Hempstead, NY - Hofstra won all six singles matches, giving up just eight games in the process, and took the doubles point as well in a 7-0 victory over Wagner Friday afternoon at the Hofstra Outdoor Tennis Center.
The win was Hofstra's fifth consecutive and evens the Pride's record at 7-7. Wagner dips to 5-9 on the season with the loss.
Sarah Bowen, Louise Lopez, and Giulia Leone each posted 6-0, 6-0 victories at their respective flights. Bowen defeated Sarah Dionisio at first singles, Lopez downed Madison Pautsch at second singles and Leone blanked Jenna Harris at fourth singles. Carmen Pestano lost one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win over Rachel Jurgielewicz at third singles, while Bianca Derrick posted a 6-0, 6-2 win over Kari Rezac at fifth singles. Bianca Posa completed the singles sweep with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Cassidy Lessard at sixth singles.
Hofstra won the doubles point with a pair of 8-0 wins. Bowen and Pestano downed Dionisio and Lessard at first doubles and Lopez and Derrick defeated Rezac and Pautsch at the second flight. Jurgielewicz and Harris won by default for Wagner at the third flight.
The Pride return to action tomorrow at noon at Monmouth.
