Oceanside, NY - Louise Lopez defeated Nathalie Habeggar at second singles, but that was Hofstra's only win in a 6-1 loss to NJIT Saturday night at the Point Set Indoor Tennis Club.
Hofstra fell to 2-2 on the season with the loss. NJIT upped its record to 3-4 on the year.
The Highlanders won the doubles point as Ksenia Kuzmenko and Jana Luste defeated Sarah Bowen and Carmen Pestano at the first flight, 8-6, and Natalia Melibeu and Carolina Zanotta posted an 8-5 win over Lopez and Bianca Derrick at the second flight. The third flight was not contested.
Kuzmenko picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win over Bowen at first singles, while Lopez notched a 6-3, 6-2 win over Habeggar at the second flight.
Luste posted a 6-1, 6-2 win over Pestano at third singles. Melibeu won 6-1, 6-3 over Giulia Leone at fourth singles and Zanotta won 6-1, 6-3 over Derrick at fifth singles. Hofstra defaulted at sixth singles.
Hofstra will next be in action next Saturday, March 8 when the Pride host Delaware at Point Set Indoor. Match time is 5 p.m.
