Hofstra Places 11 On ITA Scholar-Athlete Team; Named An All-Academic Team

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra women's tennis team's success in the classroom resulted in all 11 student-athletes earning ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades and the program claiming All-Academic Team honors. In all, 1,462 women's tennis student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 222 women's tennis programs were awarded All-Academic Team distinction.

Earning ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades were: Katarina Drinchich, Kaitlyn Ferguson, Lea Forste-Dinell, Abigail Higgins, Amanda Kadiri, Aryanah Kahnamoui, Mary Madigan, Megan Maragliano, Sabira Mohamed, Deniz Soyer, and Ava Veneziano. Ferguson, Higgins, and Soyer have earned the recognition for the fourth time in their careers, while Forste-Dinell and Mohamed are three-time honorees. Madigan and Veneziano are now a two-time ITA Scholar-Athletes, while Drinchich, Kadiri, Kahnamoui, and Maragliano earned the award for the first time in their Hofstra careers.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
  • Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:
  • Have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
Hofstra posted a 3.79 grade point average for the academic year.
