MTEN: Hendler, Richman and Wills Advance

Hempstead, NY – Sophomore Ricky Hendler advanced to the semifinals of the B Singles flight, while the doubles team of seniors Ari Richman andBeau Wills reached the semifinals of A Doubles on the first day of the Hofstra Invitational Friday at the Hofstra Outdoor Tennis Center.

Hendler opened play with an 8-4 win over Oliver Bellomi of Saint Peter's and then picked up a 9-7 win over Sacred Heart's Anthony Savio in the quarterfinals. He will meet Stony Brook's Brandon Stone in the semifinals on Saturday.

Richman and Wills had a first round bye and then downed Raphael Termant and Tyler Hoffmann of Stony Brook, 8-4, in the quarterfinals. The duo will face Justin Pagan and Mathieu Pilote-Schraenen of Sacred Heart in the semifinals.

In other doubles action, Niko Vulinovich and Hendler dropped an 8-4 decision to Carlos Carrera and Daniil Ivanov of Saint Peter's in an A Doubles quarterfinal matchup. The team of Leonardo Pires andStuart MacLeod lost in the B Doubles quarters, 8-2, to Sax Flaxman and Charlton Boyd of Wagner.

Wills and Richman each lost their singles matches at the A flight as Wills fell to Ryan Khan of Wagner, 8-5, in the round of 16 and Richman lost to Hoffmann, 8-1, in the quarterfinals.

Vulinovich lost his B quarterfinals matchup to Kenzo Kauffman of Stony Brook, 9-7.

Pires and MacLeod each advanced to the quarterfinals of C singles before falling. Pires was defeated by Cory Seltman of Sacred Heart, 8-4. MacLeod defeated Flaxman, 8-3, in the round of 16 before dropping an 8-5 decision to Albert Fontova of Stony Brook in the quarters.

Wills advanced to the consolation semifinals with an 8-0 win over Luke Whaley of Saint Peter's. He will face Justin Pagan of Sacred Heart in the semifinals on Saturday.
