Hempstead, NY - Hofstra dropped just one game in posting a 7-0 win over St. Francis Brooklyn Sunday afternoon at the Hofstra Outdoor Tennis Center. The Pride improved to 2-0 on the year, while St. Francis dropped to 0-2.
Sarah Bowen posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Luda Lisovska at first singles, but from there no other Pride player would lose a game in singles play. Louise Lopez won 6-0, 6-0 at second singles over Jennifer Gonzalez and Carmen Pestano posted an identical score at third singles over Camille Petrizzo. Giulia Leone won 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles against Jovana Bojinovic and Bianca Derrick blanked Akuila Edwards at fifth singles. Bianca Posa completed the singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the sixth flight over Dragana Dzigurski.
The Pride also swept doubles play with Bowen and Pestano winning 8-0 over Lisovska and Gonzalez at first doubles. Lopez and Leone won by an 8-0 score over Bojinovic and Petrizzo at second doubles and Derrick and Posa defeated Edwards and Dzigurski at third doubles by an 8-0 score as well.
The win marked Hofstra's final dual meet of the fall season. The Pride has two individual tournaments remaining on the schedule, competing at the USTA Invitational at Flushing Meadows beginning October 11 and then at the ITA Regionals at Harvard starting October 17.
