Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Women's Tennis team won all six singles matches and all three doubles contest en route to a 7-0 win over Rider Saturday afternoon at the Hofstra Outdoor Tennis Center.
The Pride improved to 1-0 on the season, while Rider fell to 0-4.
Louise Lopez and Giulia Leone picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins at second and fourth singles, respectively. Lopez downed Michelle Caravaglio, while Leone blanked Alexandria Extrjt. Bianca Derrick dropped just one game in defeating Kim Leder, 6-1, 6-0 at fifth singles, while Carmen Pestano posted a 6-3, 6-0 victory at third singles over Kerrin Toner. Bianca Posa notched a 6-0, 6-4 win over Leonora Paul at sixth singles. Sarah Bowen and Allison Noll played the most competitive match of the day with Bowen taking a 6-2, 7-5 victory.
The Pride would drop just five games in winning the doubles point as Bowen and Pestano defeated Noll and Toner, 8-2, at first doubles. Lopez and Leone won by an identical score at second doubles over Caravaglio and Extrjt. Derrick and Posa downed Leder and Paul, 8-1, at third doubles.
Hofstra returns to action next Sunday versus St. Francis Brooklyn at 11 a.m.
