WTEN: Pride Edge George Mason In Thrilling Match

West Hempstead, NY - Paige Polizois won the decisive match at #6 singles, 6-3, 6-3 over Kate Desiatnikova as Hofstra won a tightly contested match, 4-3, Sunday at the Hempstead Lake Indoor Tennis Center.

Hofstra improves to 4-6 overall and 1-1 in the CAA. The Pride also snapped a three-match losing streak. Mason slips to 9-4 overall and 0-2 in the CAA and saw a six-match winning streak halted.

George Mason won all three doubles matches to take a one point lead in the match. Hofstra tied the score at first singles as Elena Ivanova defeated Kiersten Pappas, who had to retire due to injury. The Patriots took a 2-1 lead as Ashley Delaney  defeated Malissa Gilanchi at third singles. Sonia Tsay defeated Alison Wingo at second singles to tie the score once again. After Brooke Blackwell put Mason back in the lead with a win at the No. 4 position, Hofstra tied the score again as Brooke Sailer won at fifth singles to set the stage for Polizois' win that wrapped up the win.
