Stamford, CT - Malissa Gilanchi, Brooke Sailer and Paige Polizois each won their singles matches, but it was not enough as Fairfield won three singles matches and took the doubles point in a 4-3 win Friday night at the Stamford Indoor Tennis Center.
Hofstra falls to 1-3 on the season with the loss, while the Stags improve to 4-1.
Gilanchi posted a 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 win over Allison Redde at third doubles. Sailer, playing at #5 singles, rallied after droppoint the first set to post a 2-6, 6-0, 7-5 win against Tori Pirrello. Polizois won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3 over Emma Samson at sixth singles.
The Stags received singles wins from Monica Yajima at #1 singles, Sharissa Ryan at #2 singles and Carolina Kladzyn at #4. Fairfield also won all three doubles matches in earning the one-point victory.
Hofstra is back in action on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. when it meets Bryant in a neutral site match in East Hartford, Connecticut.
