WGolf: Four Named To NGCA All-America Scholar Team

Hempstead, NY - Pride women's golfers Cynthia Cheng, Morgan Heyrman, Amy Hoffmann and Jenna Masnyk have been named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar Team it was announced today by the organization. To be eligible for selection to the All-American Scholar Team, student-athletes must possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50.

Cheng, a native of Sayville, NY, completed her freshman year with the Pride this past season and carries a 3.90 grade point average. An undecided major, Cheng averaged 85.7 strokes per round in 2010-11 that ranked second on the team.

Heyrman, who graduated this past May, had a 3.52 grade point average and majored in broadcast journalism with a minor in speech communication and rhetorical studies. The Green Bay, WI, native averaged 90.6 strokes per round in 2010-11.

Hoffmann also graduated this past May and the Lake Bluff, IL, native earned a 3.58 grade point average majoring in environmental resources. She averaged 88.5 strokes per round this past season.

Masnyk completed her sophomore season in 2010-11 and led the team in scoring average at 83.1. A native of Lincoln, RI, Masnyk owns a 3.79 grade point average while majoring in broadcast journalism with a minor in speech communication and rhetorical studies.

A total of 566 collegiate women's golfers in Divisions I, II and III received All-America Scholar accolades.
