East Hartford, CT - Antonio Pena and Adrien Bailly captured singles matches but the Bulldogs of Bryant won the four other singles matches plus the doubles point on the way to a 5-2 victory over the Pride Saturday evening. The Pride slipped to 3-7 on the season.
Starting in doubles play, Bryant's Christian Ballestiri and Dario Parizielli defeated Adrien Bailly/Pedro Gimenez (0-4), 8-4 at third doubles before Hofstra tied the doubles behind Antonio Pena/Matt Gemmell (3-4), who defeated Jan Paredes/Nolan Gelman, 9-8 (7-5) at first doubles. But the Bulldogs' Hart Callahan/Connor Crowley knocked off Ben Thompson-Star/Jon Disley (3-3), 9-8 (7-3) at second doubles to win the point.
At singles, Ballestiri gave Bryant a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Chris Damion (0-7) at second singles. Parzielli knocked off Ben Thompson-Star (1-6), 6-4, 6-2 at third singles for a 3-0 lead before Pena (7-9) stopped the Bullldog run with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Paredes at first singles. But Bryant won the next two matches as Nolan Gelman defeated Jon Disley (5-8), 6-0, 6-1 at fifth singles and Hart Callahan (B) defeated Matt Gemmell (6-7), 6-3, 6-2 at fourth singles for a 5-1 lead. Hofstra's Adrien Bailly (3-8) closed out the match by defeating Vidith Huot, 5-7, 6-1, 11-9 at sixth singles.
The Pride return to action on Sunday (March 20) when they host the Blue Hens of Delaware at the Hofstra Tennis Center at 1 p.m.
