Hartford, CT - The Hofstra Women's Tennis team won its first match of the spring season on Saturday as the Pride easily defeated Bryant, 6-1, to even their spring mark at 1-1. On the men's side, Hofstra dropped a 7-0 decision to the Bulldogs. The matches took place at the Hartford Racket Club in Hartford, Connecticut.
After sweeping the doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead in the match, Hofstra won all but the first singles match to cruise to the win.
Lauren Clifton and Christie Gattelaro were dominating in their respective victories as Clifton won 6-2, 6-0 at second singles, while Gattelaro won 6-1, 6-0 in her match at fourth singles.
On the men's side, Johan Vila had an impressive debut for the Pride as he sent his first match as a member of the Hofstra Tennis team to a decisive third set before falling 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 to Tom Nowak.
Both teams return to action next Saturday when they travel to Jersey City, NJ to take on Saint Peter's College at 11 a.m.
