Hempstead, NY - Led by three shutouts in singles and a pair of shutouts in doubles, the Hofstra Women's Tennis team ended a five-match losing skid as they easily defeated Wagner, 6-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the Hofstra University Outdoor Tennis Center.
The win evens Hofstra's record at 8-8 this season.
Hofstra number one doubles team of Lauren Clifton and Stacey Kent won 8-0 before Christie Gattelaro and Brooke Sailer teamed up at second doubles and matched them with an identical 8-0 final score.
Singles play would be more of the same as Hofstra got shutout wins at first, second and fourth singles from Clifton, Gattelaro and Sailer, respectively to cruise to the 7-0 victory.
Hofstra is back in action on Thursday when they host Sacred Heart at 11:30 a.m.
