The Hofstra Men's Tennis team sent a pair of singles matches into decisive third sets but was unable to capitalize as they dropped a 7-0 decision to Quinnipiac in the Pride's spring season opener on Saturday afternoon in Hamden, Connecticut.
The loss ends a short two-match win streak for Hofstra, which saw its record fall to 3-3-1.
Stian Tvedt and Alex Hosner had the best outings in the match for the Pride as Tvedt dropped a tough 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (5) match to Brian Mikkelson at second singles, while Hosner fell 4-6, 7-5, 10-6 to Charlie Feldman at fifth singles.
In doubles, the Pride almost picked up the team point as Tvedt and Tytus Stempniewwicz fell 9-8 (3) at first doubles and Nenad Radakovic and Matt Wacks had an even closer defeat at second doubles, falling 9-8 (6).
Hofstra returns to action on Saturday, February 21 when they travel to Bucknell for a 12 p.m. match.
