DJORDJEVIC NAMED TO ESPN THE MAGAZINE/COSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT I FIRST TEAM

Hofstra University senior tennis student-athlete Luka Djordjevic (Belgrade, Serbia) was named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District I At-Large First Team in a vote of the district's sports information directors, it was announced today.

By virtue of earning a spot on the first team, Djordjevic is now eligible for Academic All-America honors.  The ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America team will be announced on June 10.

Djordjevic, who compiled a 3.93 grade point average as a finance major, led Hofstra with 18 singles wins this season while playing at the first singles flight.  A third team All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) selection in 2008, Djordjevic helped Hofstra win 11 matches and advance to the quarterfinals of the CAA Championship this past season, the program's most wins since the 2004-05 team won 12.

A three-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete recipient and a three-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Award honoree, Djordjevic also won 11 doubles matches in 2008 with four coming at first doubles and three at second doubles. 

Djordjevic ended his career with 59 singles wins and 38 doubles victories.
