Hofstra cornerback Nick Altomare will be one of six Draddy Award semifinalists who will be featured on the National Football Foundation's Draddy Trophy Player Spotlight Show on the internet (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/All-Access-Football/2008/10/15/Draddy-Award-Player-Spotlight-Show ) tonight at 9 p.m. (EST).
The Draddy Trophy is one of college football's most sought after and competitive awards. It recognizes an individual as the absolute best in the country for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary community leadership.
Altomare, a senior from Fairfax, Virginia, leads the Pride in interceptions this season with three and is second in tackles with 34 including 18 solo stops. He also has three pass deflections and forced a fumble for Hofstra (3-3, 1-1), which will travel to the University of Maine (3-3, 1-2) this Saturday, October 18. The Robinson Secondary High School graduate is a three-time Hofstra Athetics Academic Honor Roll selection, a two-time member of the conference Academic All-Conference team, and was named to both the FCS Athletic Directors Association Academic All-Star Team and the CoSIDA-ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team in 2007.

Nominated by their schools, which are limited to one nominee each, semifinalists must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of eligibility, have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, have outstanding football ability as a first team player or significant contributor, and have demonstrated strong leadership and citizenship.
