Morgan Heyrman shot a final round 89 for a two-day score of 170 and tied for third at the Hofstra Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Bethpage State Park Red Course. Heyrman's Hofstra Blue team finished second as a team with a score of 696, nine strokes behind team champion Kutztown University.
Heyrman, who was in a three-way tie for first with teammate Liz Warren and Kutztown's Krista Tressler after the first round with an 81, slipped to a third place tie with her 89 in round two. Warren also dropped in round two, scoring 90 to finish sixth with a total of 171.
Tressler, though, followed her 81 with a second round 82 to claim individual medalist honors at 163. Cortland State's Rebecca Infante finished second with a 168.
Ali Hanlon, who also played on Hofstra's Blue team, finished seventh with a 174 (85-89), while Amy Hoffmann was 11th with a 181 (95-86). Amanda Rumore rounded out the Blue team's scoring with a 191 (98-93) to finish 18th.
The Hofstra Gold team, which finished fourth with a score of 751, was led by Maren Crowley's 182 (85-97) that put her in 12th place. Christine Klatman tied for 15th at 188 (96-92), Kim Novak was 17th at 189 (92-97), Jessi Hackett was 19th at 193 (98-95) and Katheleen Fonte tied for 21st with a 107 (101-96).
