Hofstra University sophomore tennis player Nikola Djordjevic (Belgrade, Serbia) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) 2004 University Division Academic All-District I At-Large Second Team, it was announced today by the organization. Djordjevic was one of only two sophomores among the 20 honored.To qualify for the CoSIDA Academic All-District program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in class, a starter or signifiant reserve on his/her team and have a compiled a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA. The District I team includes student-athletes from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Djordjevic, who carries a 3.92 GPA in Finance, earned second-team All-CAA honors after finishing the regular season with an overall singles mark of 25-3. In dual singles matches only, Djordjevic compiled a 15-1 record with his lone loss coming against nationally-ranked Brown University. In addition, Djordjevic was 11-1 during the spring season. He was also named College Sports Television's Student-Athlete of the Month for April after winning the weekly award on April 25.
During the fall season, Djordjevic won the UCONN Invitational, finished second at the Old Point National Bank Invitational and advanced to the semifinals of the Northeast Intercollegiate.
For his career, Djordjevic has a 46-6 mark after finishing his freshman campaign with a 21-3 record. He earned CAA Rookie of the Year following his stellar first season as a member of the Pride.
