MEN'S TENNIS UPSETS #70 QUINNIPIAC

The Hofstra Men's Tennis team used dominant 6-0, 6-0 victories from Nikola Djordjevic (Belgrade, Serbia) and Rodrigo Teixiera (Sao Luis-Maranhao, Brazil) at No. 1 and No. 2 singles to capture a 6-1 victory over Quinnipiac, ranked 70th in the nation, on Wednesday afternoon.

The Pride won the first five singles contests before Quinnipiac's Eric Raymundo stopped the shutout with a 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles over Hofstra's Mario Hluch (Piestany, Slovakia). The Pride also won all three doubles matches to cap off the scoring.

Djordjevic, ranked 113th in the nation, defeated Quinnipiac's Mike Rucioppo 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Teixiera captured a 6-0, 6-0 win over Justin Worthy at No. 2. Mike Bosch earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles, while Matt Schor (East Rockaway, NY) earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 over the Bobcats' Jon Russo. Robert Sforzo (Centerport, NY) earned the point at No. 5 singles for the Pride with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Alex Altman.

Hofstra will next be in action on Friday when it travels to Delaware for a 3 p.m. Colonial Athletic Association match.
