Hofstra University junior guard Brian Bernardi has been named the GoHofstra.com student-athlete of the week, it was announced this afternoon. 

Bernardi led Hofstra to a perfect 2-0 week with wins over La Salle and Appalachian State.

He got the week started with 22 points on 5-10 shooting (4-8 from three) in an 84-80 win over Atlantic 10 member La Salle on Wednesday. He was also 8-8 from the free throw line and added three steals, one assist and one block.

Bernardi followed that up with 23 points at Madison Square Garden against Appalachian State on Sunday. Once again he was solid from the field shooting 9-16 (3-5 from three) and added two assists.

For the week he averaged 22.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He shot 14-26 from the field (53.8%) overall and 7-13 (53.8%) from three-point range. He was a perfect 10-10 from the charity stripe during the week and started both games, averaging 35.5 minutes per contest.
