Apsel went 2-0 in the circle with two complete game wins and a combined ERA of 2.00 and six strikeouts as the Pride won two of three games against Drexel to open Bill Edwards Stadium. In the Pride home opener on March 15, Apsel surrendered just one run and struck out three opposing batters against eight hits in a 2-1 win over the Dragons. In Apsel's second start of the series on March 17, Apsel struck out three batters and allowed seven hits in the Pride's series-clinching 5-3 win.
