Hofstra University freshman pitcher Haley Venturini has been voted the GoHofstra.com Student-Athlete of the Week following her outstanding performance against Iona this past Sunday.

Venturini, who was also named the CAA Rookie of the Week for her efforts, tossed a complete-game in Hofstra’s 6-1 victory over Iona with a career-high 12 strikeouts. She did not surrender an earned run, scattered five hits, and allowed just one walk, helping her to her second-straight win in the circle.

The performance marked Venturini’s first double-digit strikeout performance of the season and is her fifth outing with five or more strikeouts.

On the season, Venturini leads the Hofstra pitching staff with a 2.81 ERA through 37.1 innings of work. She also leads the team with 38 strikeouts.
