Hempstead, NY – Hofstra sophomore field hockey player Stella Schoen has been named the GoHofstra.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending October 26.
Schoen recorded one goal and four assists in the two Hofstra victories at CAA-opponents Towson and Delaware last weekend. On Friday, Schoen tallied a goal and an assist as the Pride posted a 4-2 win over the Towson Tigers. On Sunday, she dished out a career-high three assists - all on Jonel Boileau’s goals - in Hofstra’s 5-2 victory over the Blue Hens. The win snapped Delaware’s 12-game CAA winning streak.
Schoen, who missed seven games this season with a leg injury, now has five goals and a career-high seven assists in 10 games in 2014. She has tallied at least one point in five consecutive games and seven of her last eight contests. Last season, the All-CAA first team selection recorded 10 goals and added six assists.
Hofstra will conclude the regular season and attempt to secure one of the four CAA Championship bids this weekend when they host the Tribe of William and Mary on Friday, October 31 at 3 p.m. and the Dukes of James Madison on Sunday, November 2 at noon.
