Stephanie Cerniglia joins the Hofstra University Department of Sports Medicine in August 2021 as the assistant athletic trainer, and will work with the Hofstra Women's Soccer and Hofstra Baseball programs.

Cerniglia comes to Hofstra from the University at Albany, where she worked within their Sports Medicine Department as a graduate assistant athletic trainer from 2018 through 2020, and later as an assistant athletic trainer for the Spring 2021 athletic season. At UAlbany, she worked directly with the volleyball and women’s lacrosse programs, and was responsible for prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries. She was also a volunteer athletic trainer for the UAlbany men’s lacrosse team in Spring 2018.

Prior to UAlbany, Cerniglia was an athletic training student at SUNY Cortland from 2016 through 2017. She served as the trainer for the SUNY Cortland football, baseball, and women’s lacrosse programs.

Outside of college athletic training, Cerniglia was a DME Specialist at OrthoNY in Albany, New York from September 2020 through February 2021.

Cerniglia earned her bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from SUNY Cortland in 2017 and her master’s degree in General Educational Studies from the University at Albany in 2020. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), and is a New York State licensed athletic trainer.
