Kevin Dexter joined the Hofstra staff in August of 2024 and serves as the assistant director of athletics for broadcast productions. The position is the first of its kind in the Department of Athletics at Hofstra.
The newly-created position will work collaboratively with the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication with future broadcasts being produced out of the brand-new, state-of-the-art control rooms located in the Herbert School.
Dexter brings vast knowledge to the department, having served a variety of roles in the multimedia space over the last decade-plus. Prior to his appointment in this role, Dexter most recently worked as the assistant program director of the Hofstra University Sports Journalism & Broadcasting Institute For Teens, while also serving as an adjunct assistant professor at the Herbert School.
A recognizable television face to many in the Long Island community, Dexter has also served as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Long Island Nets (NBA G League), worked as both a play-by-play broadcaster and producer for Hofstra Athletics, and previously spent time as an anchor, reporter, and producer at News 12 Long Island and Westchester. Dexter has also worked as a sports anchor on WFAN, CBS Sports Radio, 1010 WINS, and WCBS News Radio 880.
Dexter earned his bachelor of arts in journalism from Hofstra in 2013.
