Katarina Polyviou joined the Hofstra field hockey coaching staff as an assistant coach in August 2025.
Polyviou arrives on the Pride sideline after a season at La Salle. While on the Explorers' staff, Polyviou was responsible for assisting with practice planning, film analysis, and oppositional scouting, as well as overseeing the academic progress of the field hockey student-athletes, and managing the Explorers' recruiting efforts.
Prior to her time at La Salle, Polyviou was an assistant coach for two seasons at Ball State from 2022 until June 2024. The Cardinals qualified for the Mid-Atlantic Conference Tournament, and Fleur Knopert collected All-MAC First Team and Freshman Team honors. She also served as the assistant field hockey coach (2020-22) and assistant women's basketball coach (2021-22) at Muhlenberg College.
A native of Cranford, New Jersey, Polyviou graduated from DeSales University in May 2020 with her bachelor's degree in sport management. She was a four-year starter in goal for the Bulldogs, finishing her career as one of the best goalkeepers in program history. Polyviou ranks first in career goals-against average (1.62) and shutouts (14), second in saves (424) and games played (77), and fourth in save percentage (.749), while she holds the single-season record for goals-against average (1.30, 2018), holds the fourth-most saves in a season (148, 2019), and she is second for the most saves in a game in school history (23, 9/17/19 vs. Arcadia). She was a four-time All-MAC Freedom Team selection, and she was named NFHCA All-Region Second Team in 2017.
