Jesse DellaVecchia joined the Pride as an assistant wrestling coach on September 16, 2024. He had previously spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at LIU.
During his two seasons at LIU, DellaVecchia helped the Sharks to 11 dual match victories and had a hand in coaching LIU’s first-ever NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships qualifier - Anthony D’Alesio - in 2024. Prior to his tenure at LIU, he served as a volunteer assistant at Army West Point in 2021-22.
A NCAA All-American at Rider University, DellaVecchia was the first-ever national finalist in Rider wrestling history. A two-time Mid-American Conference champion at 157 pounds, he was named the 2021 MAC Wrestler of the Year after a historic campaign that saw him finish second to Iowa State’s David Carr at the NCAA Championships.
DellaVecchia compiled an 11-1 record as a senior and pinned top-seeded Ryan Deakin of Northwestern, who entered the bout undefeated, in the NCAA semifinal match to become the 18th All-American in the program’s history. He finished his career at Rider with a 66-10 overall.
A native of Great River, New York, DellaVecchia started his career at Binghamton in 2015-16 before stepping away from the sport for one year. He returned in 2017-18 at Rider and went on to become a three-time NCAA qualifier and two-time MAC champion.
A two-time New York State finalist, three-time all-state selection, and four-time NHSCA All-American at East Islip (NY) High School, DellaVecchia earned his degree in business from Rider in 2021.
